Amity

"A New Persona"

While trying not to fall asleep in Chemistry class one afternoon I came up with a sexy new look for Amity the cat girl. I was dis-satisfied with Amity's original appearance because she came out looking way too much like the Benn Dunn drawing her character was influenced by. Amity's new revised look is completely different from the Benn Dunn sample drawing and gives her a more mature, sexy, and sophisticated appearence. She now looks like she could be some fancy girl ready for a night on the town instead of just a generic cat girl. Of course the basic idea behind her character remains the same-- she is the friendly devoted companion of her human guardian. However, she now has the appearence of a classy ingelligent young woman-- more of an equal to her human companion than she came across to be before.

The most obvious thing I changed with Amity was her hair style. I wasn't really pleased with her original manga-ish large banged hairstyle that I originally gave her, so the sexy look of having long hair covering one of her eyes was a big improvement. I also made her fur coat a little less symetrical by making one of her ears tipped in white. One important thing I made sure to cross over to the new version of Amity was the sense of playfulness in her personality, which I feel I accomplished. The background for this picture came from a photo of the punk rock band Millencolin at a music video shoot! This city skyline made a good background for their music video and now it makes a good background for my drawing! I hope you all like my re-vamped Amity. Now I can finally be happy with her and be proud of calling her my own!

The pencil work was done on 80lb. Strathmore meduim-surface drawing paper with a Sanford Non-Photo blue pencil. I then inked it with a size 05 ZiG Millennium pen. It was than cleaned up and darkened in Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.04. I then printed it out on standard Georgia-Pacific FAX/Copy paper and colored it with Crayola and Sanford Prismacolor colored pencils. The lettering was done with Paint Shop Pro 7.04.
