This drawing comes from the scene were Thomas O'Malley first meets Duchess by the bridge in the French countryside. In the scene O'Malley walks circles around Duchess while he sings a song about how great he is. In the meantime Duchess smiles at him and licks her paws. It's kind of a funny scene to watch because O'Malley seems to be more in love with his own ego than with Duchess. I had wanted to draw this pose for a while, but what finally got me around to doing it was a bigger project which would involve this drawing as a fighter plane's nose artwork. Instead of drawing a miniature of this pose directly on the plane, I thought it would look much better if I had a scaled down version of a detailed drawing. Because I wanted to draw this pose anyway, it all worked out.
This drawing was done on 80lb. medium surface Strathmore drawing paper. For the rough pencil work I used a .05mm mechanical pencil with 5H lead. I used 2HB lead for line darkening. The result was cleaned up and darkened with Paint Shop Pro 3. The print out was on standard fax/copy paper and was colored with Crayola colored pencils. The lettering was added with Paint Shop Pro 7.02.
